With “Hoxton Hotel is modern, simple and
functional” the charming manager welcomed us when we made an excursion to the Hoxton Hotel in London.
In groups of 5 we
were shown around in a quick way. Via elevator the tour started on the fifth
floor – room 508.
“Scissors, stone, paper” was immediately in my view.
“Everybody should find something that they already know, everybody in
the world, something which makes a comfortable feeling and maybe
keep a smile on the guests face. So, the designer put this saying on the
pillows. Guests can find a little brown bag in the desk drawer which they can
put at the door knob to get a breakfast in it just for taking it away when
they are maybe busy.
A fully-equiped self service area waits in the meeting
area downstairs - divided into small rooms, soft light and wisdom sayings on the
ceiling. Cosiness, athmosphere and clear lines make a good feeling and an
optimal working base. Just a few walls allow a quick and accessible walk through
the hotel.
Next to the meeting room there is the “Hoxton Grill”.
Well-dressed staff members serve the 50s-style food like burgers and steaks in a
luxury facility.
The Hoxton is very often fully-booked and busy like the whole of London is, but it tries
to do everything that a customer can relax and feel well while staying there.
Every little detail is thought of and involved in planning. And this is
surpassed by the friendly smile of the employees and the behaviour that gives a
feeling of equality.
The people make the difference. (author K.K.)
